As i prepare to get ahead of myself and live up to the “overachiever” status, as what my mom would say, i figured that i should actually use my tumblr as a way to document the couple of months and possibly years. as i work towards getting my master’s degree in nursing, i have been given the opportunity to become an intern at Pomerado Medical Hospital in Poway. Unlike any regular volunteer at the local hospital, this internship gives the opportunity to other high school, college, & community members the chance to get clinical experience. in simpler terms, i’ll be doing cna type of work, just no charter. aka. free labor. i have friends that are actually in the internship right now and i’ve heard so many interesting stories of what they’ve experienced in the different departments they’ve been assigned to.
my first shift is tonight and for the next 3 months i’ll be working in the med/surge/tele department. of course since i have such a busy work load (full time work, 2 pre-req classes, & studying for the GRE’s), i might not have a lot of time to write on here after every shift i have at the hospital every week. i do promise myself that i do actually make an attempt to because i think remembering these experiences will help me determine if i’m going down the right path (which i’m pretty sure i am). i’m excited. =)

How would she fill the days? She had no idea. The trick of it, she told herself, is to be courageous and bold and make a difference. Not change the world exactly, just the bit around you. Go out there with your double-first, your passion and your new Smith Corona electric typewrite and work hard at… something. Change lives through art maybe. Write beautifully. Cherish your friends, stay true to your principles, live passionately and fully and well. Experience new things. Love and be loved if at all possible. Eat sensibly. Stuff like that.
